Thank you Irrawaddy for posting the Statements from both 88' group and NLD.
For NLD, they have been remarkably silent on Rakhine issue until now. At least 88' Group was at the forefront in the same spirit as the people of Rakhine and the rest of the country. I am very disappointed to see the " matter-of-fact" statement from NLD. We all know that the problem emanated since the days of the Independence, and was neglected by consecutive military juntas. This is the time to find a resolution for which a very strategic approach is the key. Being too lenient is dangerous but being too tough is no good either. I am amazed to see NLD seems to be holding the thought of conveniently blaming the President to cover their lack of interest on this issue. On the other hand, 88' Group clearly understands the situation yet " calling for peaceful resolve" is pretty self-indulged, and like playing safe. Sadly, everyone is being so cautious and playing in the safe water. Of course, they are aiming for 2015 General Election. They don't want to say or do things on sensitive issues like Rakhine. So they choose the never failing political spin- blame the government.By doing so, they think some people will support their stunt too. How pathetic and power-hungry? NLD said Government is not doing enough. What about them? are they doing anything at all?
