I am not optimistic at all. There is no moral nor discipline among these Kyant Phut.. They change colour and doing things for their survival.
frankly speaking.. i am one of the students from Myanmar Egress. I don't understand why many people have negative opinions on Egress. But I respect Dr.Nay coz he knows exactly what he's doing and never give up. As he said, whichever party wins, youths from Myanmar need political concept, knowledge and education. People say they want Democracy..Democracy.. but don't even know what is democracy.. Democracy doesn't mean only freedom. We need to change ourselves first before we point out others. And to the post,i don't like white doesn't mean i want black. there are other colors in the world also. don't critize on others before u know exactly what is going on..Thz
the Egress student obviously doesn't know what is talking about. his guru nay win maung fell on his own sword playing kingmaker, rather delusionally. having failed to drive what he thought was the final nail in NLD's coffin, he and delusional egress guys tried to get a meeting with daw aung san suu kyi, using english dilomats on the ground. in the NLD leadership circle, Egress is considered 'very dangerous' and poisonous; in the regime's leadership circle they are considered useful as they promote the regime's agenda.
I'm not an Egress student and neither believe in the Third Force concept that is very dangerous to the unity and solidarity of Democratic Forces. But, I am strongly agreed with "cutiesu" that

In fact, Democracy is not a goal, not a destination and not a panacea but, a practice that we have to educate the public and ourselves. Egress is doing an excellent work as long as it is going with unbiased directions. Even if most people don't like its master, it is important for a democratic society to accept different opinions from various groups. " Democracy is the beauty of diversity not singularity"
if people really want changes, they should know the concept of democracy first. We don't need to agree with 1 lady of whatever she said. we can disagree aslo what. We are just doing the same goal from different ways. people want changes and we are also working for changes. As a student, I know what Egress is teaching the students. they teach about what is political science, how the banks play in the country's economy, what is social science. that's it. whether u support black or white party is ur option. no one cares. Dr. Nay Win Maung is not focing any student to follow his way. I respect him becuase of his intellegence, his educational background and his belief. Dr. Nay may against NLD. so what? it's his choice, he can do what he wants. because of these trainings and class, at leaste, youths from our country will have knowledge about what is exactly happening in the country.

I don't believe Egrass is all about training. There were certain activities where its students took part in. So Egrass is not a training organization, it does political activities and it has a political agenda.
And it was a big movement based on your Dr.Nay's ideology. Unfortunately, his predictions turned out wrong and it should be called as a failure as he announced in it his journal. Actually it is not about "agree to disagree" kind of thing. It created the biggest divide in political forces. Why would you like to have freedom to criticize others (in this case NLD) while you don't like to be criticized as an organization?
It is good to hear you have some knowledge from Egrass training. But Egress needs some more training course on "Burmese History". Because Political science without History is like an eye without sight. Have a nice learning.. :-)

I'm neither a supporter for Egress nor its Third Forces. But, you are missing the point. Whatever Egress is an organization or not, the trainings they offer are good for the youth. Can you deny that? Then, it is their right to hold their political views and to do their own activities. If you are a real Democracy lover, you should have welcomed their views as another possible perspective. Can you surely say a political activity is right/wrong or fail/successful for ever? Democracy is not about only one party or not about a person, or not about one perspective, right? You don't seem to know much about what Egress is doing or may be you have too much pessimism to those who go against NLD or Daw Su. In fact, Egress has already done what you want to do. It seems to me that you do not know the seminars on Myanmar History at Egress, do you? I had a chance to attend a seminar on the history of Burmese Administration by two famous professors at Egress. Please, be aware that the meaning of History to you can be different from others' aspects. To tell the truth, you yourself should do more learning to get more information before starting to criticize others.

Please read my comment carefully. I am not denying their views. And I didn't say the trainings are bad. And I didn't say it is bad for Egress to be a political entity. If they want they can also take part in the election.
About the failure? That is what the Dr. did confessed. Not my shot. And I think that the root of his error in forecasting the political climate is because of his interpretation of history. And it is all about timing and something wrong in this level cannot be amended easily. It is history now. And the leader and the organization should take the responsibility and take the criticism. That's all I want to write.
Actually I know quite a lot about Dr. Nay Win Maung even before founding Egress. And I have many friends who participated in Egress activities too.
What a sad thing is that Egress people use to think that they can only see the bigger picture. Actually there are many able person out there with different ideas. And we are all learning from our mistakes till death.
