Well, I think it is good if it helps the Burmese people learn English better. Just look at the TV presenters and radio DJ's who don't bother to look up the dictionary and just pronounce every English word badly. Even the school teachers can barely speak, read, write or listen properly, much less teaching English to the students! And journals somehow manage to include a typographical error in every English word they use as if there was no spell check software or dictionary having existed on earth. How many of the Burmese graduates today can converse in English fluently given the fact that every student has gone through a compulsory subject called English since kindergarten? And for that matter, how many among the leaders as well? Obviously, the Burmese need a mindset change regarding the nation's second language. Even the standard of our own mother-tongue has been slipping judging by the prevalence of incorrect spelling on web and print media. Most of the students today just try to pass the exams by rote, encouraged by misguided parents who are willing to buy the grades and are more concerned about showing off than educating the children. It will take a miracle of some sort or sudden demise of the whole generation of mis-managing education officials in order to bring about improvement in language standard as well as overall education level in general public.
