I am surprised no one said a good thing about the Dam.
I think no one knows about the bad things about the dam either. People just complained the hearsays.
People are misled by the media, which is not fair and balanced. No media interviewed the opposite side, either Chinese or Burmese engineers, etc, who support the project. Perhaps, it is not politically correct to support or dangerous.
Good things.
1. Dam is good for development (if we own the dam) like electricity, flood control, irrigation, etc...)
2. One doctor wrote article about air pollution from dam. Is it a joke? Environmental damage? Yes, even building an office has negative environ effect.
3. Cause and benefit? No one mentions.
4. If cancelled, how much do we have to pay? Is it worth it?
5. Some suggest, don't pay Chinese. Where is gentleman spirit? Who will believe us later? Who will do big project with us? What is the rule of law, which is the basic ingredient of democracy? What is the world's opinion on that?
6. Don’t blame the generals, coz we agree they are stupid.
I think people who support Dam are now afraid of speaking out due to potential threat.
7. Democracy needs different voices. Like US, drum beat for Iraq WMD leads to war, which was found to be false.
8. In US, people protests building solar panels in the desert, where a few animals live. US can afford not to do it. Can we? Like a poor nation?
9. California has spent $400 million on bullet train on feasibility study, but can't start due to objections from city, county, environ groups, property owners, etc. It has been 5 years. The project is not certain anymore.
In china, it would have been built already.
10. One famous journalist suggests getting votes on Dam. Are we support to vote on all major projects. It is way crazy. Bush did not get votes to go to war.
11. Burma.. Welcome to stupidity, sorry, democracy!!
Everybody knows who has real responsibility. Public don't need to pay for it as nobody has taken anything from China. People having taken must repay for it.
